What a wacky and fun weekend we had in Somerset, NJ! Snow and then more snow, and still so many of you came out to the Sugarloaf show and made it a success for me and many others. Thank you!! After the packup Sunday night, I drove all the way home to Vermont, with my trusty companion (a steaming cup of Starbucks French roast), arriving at 3AM, very tired but happy and excited. Why drive home that late on still slushy roads? To wake up the next morning, pull my snowboard and boots out of the attic, and do 9 runs on my own snowy backhill, that’s why! I just came in, my heart is pumping, my shirt is soaked, and I’m smiling from having ridden a foot of fresh snow in October, and doing it the old school way - hiking the hill! Now I’m heating up some (more) coffee, the workshop is heating up and I’ve got three solid weeks before the Sugarloaf show in Gaithersburg, MD to make some of the new designs I sketched this Fall. There are 12 or 14 ideas that I’m in a panic to get made into silver before the show. I’ll try! If you’re in the Maryland/Virginia area the very weekend before Thanksgiving I hope you can come to the show and stop by my booth - It’ll be a great Fall weekend and I’ll see you there!

What a blast the Sunapee Craft Show was. My sales were up from 2011 and that’s really saying something in this economy. I feel SO grateful for all of you who thought enough of my new things to want one (or more). And so lucky that everyone came and enjoyed themselves in the fine weather we had. Just in case you want to see more of my jewelry, or if you couldn’t make it to Sunapee, I’d love to see you in Manchester, Vermont, the weekend of September 29th - October 1st. The foliage around Manchester comes earlier than elsewhere (the surrounding hills are high) and it’s such a beautiful drive over there. Click on the link to the right for all the show info. I’ve got 6 weeks or so to invent lots of new things and I hope you’ll be there for me to show them to! In the meantime, we’ve got more summer to enjoy, and I intend to do just that! See you in Manchester!

It’s only a matter of days until I’ll be in my booth in Tent 8 at perhaps the best Craft Show in the country: The League of New Hampshire Craftsmens’ Fair at the Mount Sunapee Resort in Newbury, NH. I’ve got so many new and exciting pieces to show you - quite a few are set with stones I’ve never seen before, and some beautiful and striking fossils, too. I can’t wait to display all the new things and get your reactions to them.. Even if you can’t make it till the second weekend of the show, I’ll still have some new pieces to show you - I’ve got that many new exciting things. See you there!! Check the link to the right for details and directions to Sunapee. And bring a bathing suit for a jump in the Lake after the show!

What fun the Gaithersburg show was! I can’t believe how many of you “fans” showed up on a rainy Friday, and I can’t tell you how much it means to me to see so many of my old friends, and lots of new ones, come out in such cold and cloudy weather. Thanks! One of you bought 5 pieces, and not little ones either, and it brought up a problem I have with almost everyone who actually pulls out the checkbook or card to buy a piece. I am so appreciative I want to give you a discount, especially the people who can’t help themselves and have to have two (or 5!) new things. I had a retail store in Brattleboro Vermont for years and I had 30% added to all my prices so I could have a sale in the Spring or at Christmas- 20% off! or if you bought 2 things - hey I’ll give you 15% off! Big deal - I add 30% and then take off 20% . Craft shows are a way to drop all the BS from our interaction. It’s just you, me, my material costs and my labor. Simple, direct, honest. I love this! Thanks again for you being you, and allowing me to go back home to my shop and make lots of brand new things to show you in the Fall (with a stop at Cape Hatteras for a week or so of windsurfing on the way - hey Carolina’s between Maryland and Vermont, isn’t it?) See you in Gaithersburg in October!

Hi, and thanks for checking my site! I’m looking forward to the Spring shows and I hope I’ll see you at one of them. The very first of the year will be the Sugarloaf show in Gaithersburg, MD April 8, 9, and 10th. This winter has been a blast, since the two things I like best are snowboarding and working on jewelry in my sunny shop. We’ve had snow almost every week this winter in Vermont, and all of it powder-light and fluffy-so I’ve been out in it, carving it up until my legs ache and my smile threatens to burst my cheeks. Then I like to spend two straight days at my workbench, working on new pendants, necklaces and rings. And, oh man, did I find some startling new stones this winter to work around! I can’t wait to buff the new pieces and hang them all up on my show display and see them all together. It’s gonna look good, and I bet there’s something here that’s going to light you up when you see it! And light you up again when you WEAR it! See you at the show!

What a weekend in Gaithersberg! The October Sugarloaf show was a blast - perhaps the first time I’ve ever experienced three straight days of ideal weather in Maryland! When I leave Vermont, people think I’m headed to the land of eternal cherry blossoms and endless spring - but I usually find wind, rain, or snow. How nice to feel the sunshine, and the sunshine of all your smiles!
For those of you who couldn’t make it to the show, I missed you! But, I’ll be back in Gaithersburg the weekend right before Thanksgiving, November 19, 20 & 21, as well as at the Sugarloaf Somerset show in New Jersey, October 29, 30 & 31. That gives me lots of time to make some of the new pieces I’ve already drawn in my sketchbook - in fact, after the show, I saw one of my stonecutters and bought some exciting stones to build some new jewelry around, so I’ll have some brand new things for you to see, and I hope you’ll come out to have a look or just to say “hi!”
One of the best things about the Sugarloaf shows is that they’re conducive to making real friendships - I’m sure you know what I mean - and it’s one of the main reasons I enjoy them so much. If you’re one of my ‘regulars’ and you come out to the show, it gives me a real lift and I thank you for that. If you”re a new owner of one of my pieces, I look forward to getting to know you better. I hope I’ll see you again at one of these two shows!

What a great weekend we just had in Manchester Vermont! Sunshine, blue skies, lots of happy people liking my new work. Thank you to all who showed up and made it so fun. If you got a new piece of jewelry, congratulations and Thanks! Now I’ve got 4 days to finish up these pieces on my bench that I’m saving for my friends in Gaithersburg! If you’re a Marylander checking this site (or Virginian!) I want you to know that, Yes, I will be at the Sugarloaf show this weekend, with lots of new jewelry, including 60 new rings and plenty of other sparkly and interesting things, along with some gross things too: fossil horse’s tooth, and a piece of dinosaur leg bone, to name two! But they happen to be pretty and really cool to see and touch. I’ve got lots of things that are just awesome too, but hey, I’m not going to give everything away here. You’ll just have to come out to the show. I can’t wait! I’ll see you there!

What a delight the Craftsmen’s Fair at Sunapee has been this past week! Mollie, Honor, Vicki and Vickie made it fun and easy in the booth and I am SO thankful that (probably) you and so many others liked what I brought and went home with a brand new piece of my, and the Earth’s, craftwork! The delightful weather made it just a pleasure to spend some time with a lot of my old friends and make some interesting new ones too. It’s a little surprising to me, even after years of Craft Fairs, how quickly we can let down any walls we have and make some really close friendships right on the spot. It helps too that I put some time into a piece of silverwork and now you’re spending your time with it-a little sharing there.
If you came to Sunapee, thanks! My next show will be one that a lot of you would enjoy-The Hildene Fair, in Manchester Vermont (Hildene was Lincoln’s summer place) happening the first weekend of October (Oct 1, 2 and 3). It’s always near the very best foliage time and a beautiful drive to a beautiful valley to see some beautiful crafts (the creative food selection at that show, and wines, can almost be worth it by themselves!) See you there or in Sunapee under the summer skies next year!
